| The Tao Chapter 50 – My Second Interpretation |
Just like the water of a river gives itself up to the direction of the flow, so does the wise person give himself to the direction of life’s flow.
Do the work that life puts before you, as it is a part of your journey.
Just like a river is born a child, journeys its path, then surrenders to the vastness of the sea, so does a man follow that pattern.
The wise grasps or clings to nothing, but allows himself to freely experience all situations.
Nothing is ever truly grasped. No physical thing can you ever eternally cling to.
Therefore, as freely as you let go to allow sleep, so should you let go to allow life.
LIVING THE TAO: Today, experiment with life: in each situation just observe it and participate as you are requested without trying to control it. Then at the end, reflect on the outcome of the experience. How do you feel after the outcome?
My 2018 focus is to intentionally live the Tao Te Ching. This is my second reading of Stephen Mitchell’s translation. I share my daily interpretations hoping to inspire you to do the same.
Embrace your journey. Experience bliss. Live the Tao.
