What if I am here to simply experience the fun of witnessing the wonders of nature in this physical dimension?

What if I didn’t come to save or change the world?

What if I just came to experience existence in this form and while here I have fun co-creating in a way that benefits others?

What if all the pain and suffering has been because of the belief that there is something more I came to do and my trying “to do” has been the source of my pain and suffering?

What if my grand purpose was simply to come and be, and in my being–with the gifts, talents and strengths I’ve been given and the interests I’ve accumulated–I co-create a joy-filled existence for myself while being a blessing for others?

What if suicide happens because striving for some illusive ego-designed construct made the pain of not having the object of the ego’s desire so unbearable that people just could no longer bear the pain of striving?

What if they missed out on why they were here to begin with–to simply experience the joy and magic of life?

What if problems weren’t problems, but just experiences happening around us that gave us the opportunity to witness our personal power as we navigate our way through them?

What if the isms–racism, sexism, ageism, genderism, all the isms–were simply ego-constructed concepts presenting as problems that aren’t problems, but were experiences to witness our personal power as we navigate our way through life?

What if love only hurts because we force something that is already natural?

What if while experiencing the joy and magic of life we simply allowed love to happen?

What if these things were true?

What if you lived like these things were true?

What if?

Today is a good day to reflect on life as you give thanks for it. So, reflect. Release pain and allow joy.

Clear Your Bias for New Learning http://sheronbrown.com/clear-your-bias-for-new-learning/ http://sheronbrown.com/clear-your-bias-for-new-learning/#respond Thu, 21 Feb 2019 12:49:40 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25273 Most of what you think is colored by your perception, so what happens if your perception is skewed?

Your perception is skewed because it is painted with your bias, so are you able to sincerely open to new learning?

Yes. You are able.

The Tao advises to, “Stop thinking and end your problems.” In the spirit of the Tao, suspend giving meaning to your thoughts. Welcome information untouched by your bias. Enter situations as an infant, new to the world.

Today as you engage in conversations and with situations, as much as you can recall, tell yourself, my thoughts do not mean anything. This will help you clear your biases for new learning.

In 2018, I read and reflected on the Tao Te Ching, and shared daily inspirations to inspire improved wellbeing. After my fifth reading, I transitioned to A Course in Miracles. Now, we continue our wellbeing journey together with ACIM in a Tao state of mind.

Change How You See http://sheronbrown.com/change-how-you-see/ http://sheronbrown.com/change-how-you-see/#respond Wed, 20 Feb 2019 13:48:28 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25267 Perception triggers behavior.

The way you perceive determines how you respond. But in all circumstances, there are multiple perspectives. If your perception is based solely on your perspective, then your behavior is likely out of place.

In the spirit of the Tao, practice setting your perspective aside to open to the reality that there is another way to view the situation.

Today, throughout the day, particularly in moments of emotional discomfort, remind yourself that initially nothing is as you see it in the moment.

Your Wandering Mind http://sheronbrown.com/your-wandering-mind/ http://sheronbrown.com/your-wandering-mind/#respond Tue, 19 Feb 2019 16:05:13 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25263 When your mind is busy, you feel busy. A continual busy feeling can lead to overwhelm and overwhelm diminishes your inner peace. But does your mind being busy mean that you are thinking of new ideas?

Most of your thoughts are past thoughts. This then means that the busy, overwhelm and stress are related to the past, yet the moment you are in is the present.

The Tao asks “Can you coax your mind from its wandering and keep to the original oneness?”

In the spirit of the Tao, practice awareness of your thoughts to reduce your overwhelm and stress.

Today try this: set your alarm for three random times today. When it goes off, notice what you are thinking. Is it a new present moment idea or is it a thought of the past? Only two percent of the time will it be new. If it is old, consider repeating this statement from ACIM for a minute, “My mind is preoccupied with the past.” This practice will bring awareness of thoughts in the present.

Letting Go is a Choice http://sheronbrown.com/letting-go-is-a-choice/ http://sheronbrown.com/letting-go-is-a-choice/#respond Mon, 18 Feb 2019 15:36:29 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25260 Feelings of upset are residuals of the past. Worry, anger fear, depression, etc. arise with an experience and lingers after the moment has passed. Thoughts that create the feeling of upset are objects that can be released. They obstruct your clear sight from the fact that you can choose new thoughts. They continue to hold meaning because you continue to hold the feeling of upset. You can choose to let go.

In the spirit of the Tao, remember that how you choose to see, colors your reality.

Today in moments of upset, choose to see that it is a passing moment and you have the option to let go of the thought that is creating the upset.

Let Go of Upset http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-upset/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-upset/#respond Sun, 17 Feb 2019 14:20:27 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25255 In the moment the event occurs, the emotion is triggered. If negative, worry, fear, anger, depression, etc. arises, but what happens when the moment has passed? When not let go, the emotion lingers and grows.

The moment of the trigger has passed, yet you hold on to the emotion that harms your wellbeing.

In the spirit of the Tao, allow emotions that harm your wellbeing to come and go, just as this second has come and is now gone. Allow your heart to open by releasing the pain that your mind will continually remind you of if you let it.

Today, as you sense upsetting emotions, repeat the words offered by ACIM: I am upset because of something that is not here.

Let Go of Blame http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-blame/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-blame/#respond Sat, 16 Feb 2019 15:16:27 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25251 Worry, anger, fear, depression, etc. Name the upsetting emotion that has troubled you to see that you stopped at its perceived cause. Something happened to trigger the emotion, and once it was triggered that something took on the blame for the emotion.

But what if that thing is not truly the blame? And what if holding the emotion is blocking your sight from seeing the true culprit?

The Tao says, color blinds the eye and thoughts weaken the mind.

In the spirit of the Tao, consider releasing the object of the blame so you can see the deeper cause of the emotion.

Today as you experience an upsetting emotion, remind yourself, “I am never upset for the reason I think.”

Let Go of the Emotional Yo-Yo http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-the-emotional-yo-yo/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-the-emotional-yo-yo/#respond Fri, 15 Feb 2019 11:51:18 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25246 Thoughts are objects. Though intangible, they are objects nonetheless. Similar to physical objects, thoughts hold the meaning that you attach to them.

If you judge them as good, they provide a positive feeling, temporarily. If you judge them as bad, they render negative feelings that linger.

Practice taking yourself out of the emotional yoyo game.

In the spirit of the Tao, consider that thoughts and the judgements you place on them can hinder your acceptance of what matters most—the truth of who you are.

Today, set your alarm to go off three times, any time you choose. When it does go off, pay attention to what you are thinking. Notice how you feel and practice letting go of the meaning you have attached to the thought. This is the beginning of your path to inner peace.

Let Go of Judgement http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-judgement/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-judgement/#respond Thu, 14 Feb 2019 12:08:06 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25235 Previous understandings, experiences and attachments can obstruct clear seeing and thinking. Attachment to what you think you already know creates judgement and hinders your view. For example, hurtful experiences from the past make it difficult to see the humanity of the one that did the hurting. The judgement causes you to separate yourself from the humanity of another. You separate your humanity from theirs.

But seeing without judgement helps your heart to heal from past pain and enables you to put down your emotional baggage.

In the spirit of the Tao, be cognizant of seeing the truth of a person first—their soul. The Tao says that if you see someone as your competition, you have already lost.

Today, see people as nothing more than the souls that they are. This will allow you to experience clear thinking in the moment.

Let Go of Worry and Stress http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-worry-and-stress/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-worry-and-stress/#respond Wed, 13 Feb 2019 15:04:27 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25227 Everything that you see holds the meaning you have given it. This includes the things you stress about, are fearful or worry over. But what would happen if you stopped to see that the only reason you stress, worry or fear is because of the meaning you have applied to a situation? What if you applied a new meaning?

In the spirit of the Tao, allow Life’s flow to determine the outcome of situations, knowing that your surrender serves you in two ways. First, alignment with the flow results in outcomes that benefit all involved. Second, releasing worrisome thoughts improves your wellbeing.

Today, remember that everything you see has the meaning you have given it. If what you see negatively impacts you, you can change its meaning.
