Let Go to Lead

If your concept of leadership, at home or at work, means to empower or compel, you’ll experience frustration and anger. To empower is to give power, but authentic power can only be realized. To compel is to control, and you can only control yourself. Therefore, it is better to lead in alignment with life’s flow.

But how does one lead by surrendering? Establish a vision with meaning, let the responsibilities be created, then allow everyone to emerge as who they are.

Be yourself and others will be inspired. Be inclusive and others will participate. Allow autonomy, and they will produce according to their passion. Demonstrate compassion and they will work with care.

The wise know that to lead well is to let go.

In all things, surrender to life’s flow and the outcome will serve the highest good of all.

LIVING THE TAO: Today, pick one small thing to practice leading by letting go—being, allowing and demonstrating as noted above—then observe the results. This is the beginning of growing in the practice of leading with life’s flow.
