Thoughts are objects. Though intangible, they are objects nonetheless. Similar to physical objects, thoughts hold the meaning that you attach to them.
If you judge them as good, they provide a positive feeling, temporarily. If you judge them as bad, they render negative feelings that linger.
Practice taking yourself out of the emotional yoyo game.
In the spirit of the Tao, consider that thoughts and the judgements you place on them can hinder your acceptance of what matters most—the truth of who you are.
Today, set your alarm to go off three times, any time you choose. When it does go off, pay attention to what you are thinking. Notice how you feel and practice letting go of the meaning you have attached to the thought. This is the beginning of your path to inner peace.
In 2018, I read and reflected on the Tao Te Ching, and shared daily inspirations to inspire improved wellbeing. After my fifth reading, I transitioned to A Course in Miracles. Now, we continue our wellbeing journey together with ACIM in a Tao state of mind.
Today’s Tao reflection was inspired by Lesson 4 of ACIM.
