| The Tao Chapter 38 – My Fifth Interpretation|

The desire to lord over others is rooted in a message of ignorance of self. It indicates that you do not know the source of your power, therefore, you do not know yourself.

To be consumed with making things happen according to your might is also rooted in a message of ignorance of self. It indicates that you do not understand your power, therefore, you do not understand who you are.

Superficial victories placate you, but their satisfaction never last.

What is lasting is what is born of your true power—the fruits of unconditional love for self and others. Focus on the depth, not the surface; the fruit, not the flower.

On this journey, master the art of living by centering yourself in the truth of who you are. Your power will then naturally flow. 

LIVING THE TAO: Are you concerned only about how the world impacts you and your family? Do you express compassion for others? Does your focus center on what you can get from others? Is living this way joyful in a way that is lasting? If not, consider the inspiration of the Tao.
