Your perception is skewed because it is painted with your bias, so are you able to sincerely open to new learning?

Yes. You are able.

The Tao advises to, “Stop thinking and end your problems.” In the spirit of the Tao, suspend giving meaning to your thoughts. Welcome information untouched by your bias. Enter situations as an infant, new to the world.

Today as you engage in conversations and with situations, as much as you can recall, tell yourself, my thoughts do not mean anything. This will help you clear your biases for new learning.

In 2018, I read and reflected on the Tao Te Ching, and shared daily inspirations to inspire improved wellbeing. After my fifth reading, I transitioned to A Course in Miracles. Now, we continue our wellbeing journey together with ACIM in a Tao state of mind.

Today’s Tao reflection was inspired by Lesson 10 of ACIM.

Change How You See http://sheronbrown.com/change-how-you-see/ http://sheronbrown.com/change-how-you-see/#respond Wed, 20 Feb 2019 13:48:28 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25267 Perception triggers behavior.

The way you perceive determines how you respond. But in all circumstances, there are multiple perspectives. If your perception is based solely on your perspective, then your behavior is likely out of place.

In the spirit of the Tao, practice setting your perspective aside to open to the reality that there is another way to view the situation.

Today, throughout the day, particularly in moments of emotional discomfort, remind yourself that initially nothing is as you see it in the moment.

The Choice of Ease or Suffering http://sheronbrown.com/the-choice-of-ease-or-suffering/ http://sheronbrown.com/the-choice-of-ease-or-suffering/#respond Sat, 09 Feb 2019 12:15:39 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25208 | The Tao Chapter 80 – My Fifth Interpretation|

Gratitude for the lesson of the moment and stillness of heart are being content.

This does not mean you have no desire, nor does it mean that growth has ceased. It simply means that you are able to appreciate the lessons of the moment. It means that you recognize your ability to choose your response to the moment and you choose to be grateful because the moment offers a lesson for your growth and benefit.

Being content allows you to live with more ease because you choose to not be discontent.

Being content is a choice.

LIVING THE TAO: Any negative feeling such as anger, fear, or anxiety can dissipate with a choice. Choose to ask y yourself, what is the lesson for me to learn from what I view as this pain-causing experience? Once you have determined the lesson(s), be grateful for it (them) and soon the pain that you allowed the experience to create will dissolve.

In 2018 my focus was to intentionally live the Tao Te Ching. Now I continue into 2019 with my fifth reading. I share my daily interpretations hoping to inspire you to do the same.

Embrace your journey. Experience bliss. Live the Tao.

Open Opportunity’s Door http://sheronbrown.com/open-opportunitys-door/ http://sheronbrown.com/open-opportunitys-door/#respond Fri, 08 Feb 2019 12:34:51 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25204 | The Tao Chapter 79 – My Fifth Interpretation|

Where is your heart in the midst of failure? If vanity prevails, you have truly failed because there is no growth, only blame. But if humility is prevalent, opportunity’s door opens.

The one who seeks to master the art of living demands nothing to boost her status. Instead, she owns her decisions, amends her actions and aligns her thoughts in surrender to Life’s flow.

LIVING THE TAO: When you see (or feel) the mistake you made, do you waste energy explaining it away through blame, or do you quickly own it, learn, and correct your actions. If it is the former, you are making life more difficult than necessary and creating dis-ease for yourself and all involved.

Brittleness is a reflection of lifelessness, such as a leaf that has fallen from its tree.

Suppleness is a reflection of life, such as the skin of a newborn.

Brittle thoughts, stiff and inflexible, contribute to a lifeless environment. Flexibility and openness in thoughts generate life and innovation.

If growth is what you seek, yield to allow life. Otherwise, staleness and lifelessness will be your reward.

LIVING THE TAO: Are you closed off from the perspectives of others. When ideas don’t match your own, do you immediately shut them out? Are you thriving or choking as you hold close to only your perspective? As you reflect on your responses, also consider today’s Tao inspiration.

Teach Without Teaching http://sheronbrown.com/teach-without-teaching/ http://sheronbrown.com/teach-without-teaching/#respond Fri, 01 Feb 2019 10:54:26 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25169 | The Tao Chapter 72 – My Fifth Interpretation|

Too much control exercised over others diminishes their trust in their own brilliance. Better you manage the level of tension between what needs to be learned and what is already known. A wise teacher knows this.

If your aim is to help someone grow, create the space for their development, then step back. They may struggle in the beginning, but with space and measured guidance, they will thrive.

This is what is meant by, “teach without teaching.”

LIVING THE TAO:  Are you responsible for the development of others? If you overshadow their ideas with your directives, be clear: you will dim their light. If you want them at their best, then teach without teaching.

Being unteachable is an illness.

Being open to learning moves your mind toward health.

Lay aside any whisper of haughtiness to allow gains in knowledge and wellbeing.

Let go of the notion that your way is the right way. Allow Life to show you the way. Then you can experience emotional healing. Then you can return to your wholeness.

LIVING THE TAO: Fighting to be right or hustling to make things go your way is stressful and brings harm to your physical wellbeing. Instead, allow circumstances to take on their natural flow and learn the lessons that Life offers.

Grow from the Inside http://sheronbrown.com/grow-from-the-inside/ http://sheronbrown.com/grow-from-the-inside/#respond Tue, 29 Jan 2019 12:42:26 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25155 | The Tao Chapter 69 – My Fifth Interpretation|

Rushing ahead because of impatience disrupts the natural flow of things and may slow progress. Instead, sit still and observe your reaction to being patient. Is there more for you to learn? And as you learn, notice how the natural flow of your desired intention happens for you.

This is, as they say, the universe conspiring in your favor.

Rushing ahead to beat your competition is a never-ending game that creates harm. Trying to grow from the outside is superficial and depleting. Growth from the inside nurtures your physical, mental and spiritual being.

Eventually, you lose ground when you compete with harmful intentions. Advancement comes when your growth originates from within. Ultimately, all involved will benefit.

LIVING THE TAO: The act of competing against what you cannot control is draining and has the potential to draw you away from your purpose. Stay true to who you are by focusing your growth inward.

Inward Facing Leadership http://sheronbrown.com/inward-facing-leadership/ http://sheronbrown.com/inward-facing-leadership/#respond Mon, 28 Jan 2019 13:05:58 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25151 | The Tao Chapter 68 – My Fifth Interpretation|

Being a warrior is not always outward facing; for the sake of personal growth, it is inward facing. Every time you confront yourself, you become better and take on a warrior stance. A warrior in this fashion is a model of strength. A compassionate warrior then, shows great vigor and unselfish care.

Likewise, leadership is not always outward facing. To lead yourself in the steps of betterment is also leadership. The compassionate leader then, takes incremental steps in the path of greatness while demonstrating care for herself and others.

Both purport growth with courage and compassion.

Both are a demonstration of care for self and others.

Both are a demonstration of personal growth.

Both humble their hearts for the benefit of self and their fellow human.

LIVING THE TAO: Do you confront yourself with care? Are you a model of compassion? Do others grow for their betterment as a result of observing you? In what areas do you want to grow as a warrior / leader? Consider the words of today’s Tao inspiration as you reflect on your desired growth.
