Letting Go | Sheron Brown http://sheronbrown.com Inspiring bliss. Sun, 01 Aug 2021 17:10:10 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.0.21 http://sheronbrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/sheron_optavia_profile.jpg Letting Go | Sheron Brown http://sheronbrown.com 32 32 Letting Go is a Choice http://sheronbrown.com/letting-go-is-a-choice/ http://sheronbrown.com/letting-go-is-a-choice/#respond Mon, 18 Feb 2019 15:36:29 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25260 Feelings of upset are residuals of the past. Worry, anger fear, depression, etc. arise with an experience and lingers after the moment has passed. Thoughts that create the feeling of upset are objects that can be released. They obstruct your clear sight from the fact that you can choose new thoughts. They continue to hold meaning because you continue to hold the feeling of upset. You can choose to let go.

In the spirit of the Tao, remember that how you choose to see, colors your reality.

Today in moments of upset, choose to see that it is a passing moment and you have the option to let go of the thought that is creating the upset.

In 2018, I read and reflected on the Tao Te Ching, and shared daily inspirations to inspire improved wellbeing. After my fifth reading, I transitioned to A Course in Miracles. Now, we continue our wellbeing journey together with ACIM in a Tao state of mind.

Today’s Tao reflection was inspired by Lesson 7 of ACIM.

Let Go of Upset http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-upset/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-upset/#respond Sun, 17 Feb 2019 14:20:27 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25255 In the moment the event occurs, the emotion is triggered. If negative, worry, fear, anger, depression, etc. arises, but what happens when the moment has passed? When not let go, the emotion lingers and grows.

The moment of the trigger has passed, yet you hold on to the emotion that harms your wellbeing.

In the spirit of the Tao, allow emotions that harm your wellbeing to come and go, just as this second has come and is now gone. Allow your heart to open by releasing the pain that your mind will continually remind you of if you let it.

Today, as you sense upsetting emotions, repeat the words offered by ACIM: I am upset because of something that is not here.

Let Go of Blame http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-blame/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-blame/#respond Sat, 16 Feb 2019 15:16:27 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25251 Worry, anger, fear, depression, etc. Name the upsetting emotion that has troubled you to see that you stopped at its perceived cause. Something happened to trigger the emotion, and once it was triggered that something took on the blame for the emotion.

But what if that thing is not truly the blame? And what if holding the emotion is blocking your sight from seeing the true culprit?

The Tao says, color blinds the eye and thoughts weaken the mind.

In the spirit of the Tao, consider releasing the object of the blame so you can see the deeper cause of the emotion.

Today as you experience an upsetting emotion, remind yourself, “I am never upset for the reason I think.”

Let Go of the Emotional Yo-Yo http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-the-emotional-yo-yo/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-the-emotional-yo-yo/#respond Fri, 15 Feb 2019 11:51:18 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25246 Thoughts are objects. Though intangible, they are objects nonetheless. Similar to physical objects, thoughts hold the meaning that you attach to them.

If you judge them as good, they provide a positive feeling, temporarily. If you judge them as bad, they render negative feelings that linger.

Practice taking yourself out of the emotional yoyo game.

In the spirit of the Tao, consider that thoughts and the judgements you place on them can hinder your acceptance of what matters most—the truth of who you are.

Today, set your alarm to go off three times, any time you choose. When it does go off, pay attention to what you are thinking. Notice how you feel and practice letting go of the meaning you have attached to the thought. This is the beginning of your path to inner peace.

Let Go of Judgement http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-judgement/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-judgement/#respond Thu, 14 Feb 2019 12:08:06 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25235 Previous understandings, experiences and attachments can obstruct clear seeing and thinking. Attachment to what you think you already know creates judgement and hinders your view. For example, hurtful experiences from the past make it difficult to see the humanity of the one that did the hurting. The judgement causes you to separate yourself from the humanity of another. You separate your humanity from theirs.

But seeing without judgement helps your heart to heal from past pain and enables you to put down your emotional baggage.

In the spirit of the Tao, be cognizant of seeing the truth of a person first—their soul. The Tao says that if you see someone as your competition, you have already lost.

Today, see people as nothing more than the souls that they are. This will allow you to experience clear thinking in the moment.

Let Go of Worry and Stress http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-worry-and-stress/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-worry-and-stress/#respond Wed, 13 Feb 2019 15:04:27 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25227 Everything that you see holds the meaning you have given it. This includes the things you stress about, are fearful or worry over. But what would happen if you stopped to see that the only reason you stress, worry or fear is because of the meaning you have applied to a situation? What if you applied a new meaning?

In the spirit of the Tao, allow Life’s flow to determine the outcome of situations, knowing that your surrender serves you in two ways. First, alignment with the flow results in outcomes that benefit all involved. Second, releasing worrisome thoughts improves your wellbeing.

Today, remember that everything you see has the meaning you have given it. If what you see negatively impacts you, you can change its meaning.

Let Go of Harmful Thoughts http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-harmful-thoughts/ http://sheronbrown.com/let-go-of-harmful-thoughts/#respond Tue, 12 Feb 2019 13:59:11 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25223 Attach to nothing.

We harm our wellbeing with thoughts of fear. We fear so many things they are innumerable. In a nutshell though, we fear the past—did I make the right choice (worry); the present—am I doing/saying the right thing (fretting); and the future—will I be okay (anxious).

We walk around with these fears daily because of our attachment to ideas and things. Regarding ideas, we want to be viewed by others in certain ways. This is a concern about status. Regarding things, we don’t want to lose the things we’ve grown accustomed to (and they probably add to status.)

In the spirit of the Tao, the first ACIM lesson encourages us to let go.

Today, practice mentally letting go of everything as a first step in releasing fear. As you remember throughout your day, mentally let go of attachment to objects. This is the beginning of releasing thoughts of fear.

Inward Facing Leadership http://sheronbrown.com/inward-facing-leadership/ http://sheronbrown.com/inward-facing-leadership/#respond Mon, 28 Jan 2019 13:05:58 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25151 | The Tao Chapter 68 – My Fifth Interpretation|

Being a warrior is not always outward facing; for the sake of personal growth, it is inward facing. Every time you confront yourself, you become better and take on a warrior stance. A warrior in this fashion is a model of strength. A compassionate warrior then, shows great vigor and unselfish care.

Likewise, leadership is not always outward facing. To lead yourself in the steps of betterment is also leadership. The compassionate leader then, takes incremental steps in the path of greatness while demonstrating care for herself and others.

Both purport growth with courage and compassion.

Both are a demonstration of care for self and others.

Both are a demonstration of personal growth.

Both humble their hearts for the benefit of self and their fellow human.

LIVING THE TAO: Do you confront yourself with care? Are you a model of compassion? Do others grow for their betterment as a result of observing you? In what areas do you want to grow as a warrior / leader? Consider the words of today’s Tao inspiration as you reflect on your desired growth.

In 2018 my focus was to intentionally live the Tao Te Ching. Now I continue into 2019 with my fifth reading. I share my daily interpretations hoping to inspire you to do the same.

Embrace your journey. Experience bliss. Live the Tao.

Release the Struggle http://sheronbrown.com/release-the-struggle/ http://sheronbrown.com/release-the-struggle/#respond Sun, 13 Jan 2019 16:12:21 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=25022 | The Tao Chapter 53 – My Fifth Interpretation|

While it may seem easier to control events and make them happen according to what you believe is the right way, it is actually easier to go with the way of Life’s flow.

It is less contentious. It is less stressful. There is less struggle.

Ultimately, centering yourself in the flow offers balance and peace of mind.

LIVING THE TAO: The Tao continues to remind us daily to let go and go with the flow. This is challenging because sometimes we feel like we are falling, but in the long run it is the healthier choice—healthier physically, spiritually and mentally. Begin with one big exhale and picture yourself releasing. That is how you can start.

Experiment with Life http://sheronbrown.com/experiment-with-life/ http://sheronbrown.com/experiment-with-life/#respond Tue, 08 Jan 2019 13:58:04 +0000 http://sheronbrown.com/?p=24994 | The Tao Chapter 48 – My Fifth Interpretation|

The more you seek to control the way, the more trouble you create for yourself. But when you intentionally tame the ego’s need to control, the way flows with ease. The less you force things, the more your non-action yields ideal results. When you don’t interfere, the results are not muddied.

So, what is this all? Learn to master the art of allowing. It is how you align with Life’s flow.

LIVING THE TAO: How do you practice alignment with Life’s flow? Begin with a decision you are wrestling with. Experiment by leaving the situation alone for a few days, and observe how it unfolds. Repeat this process to develop your art of allowing.

In 2018 my focus was to intentionally live the Tao Te Ching. Now I continue into 2019 with my fifth reading. I share my daily interpretations hoping to inspire you to do the same.

Embrace your journey. Experience bliss. Live the Tao.
