2 Ways to Show Up

I AM showing up with my head up.

You can interpret this in two ways.

The first way:

You may be in a predicament where, for whatever reason, you believe you have been shamed, but you must return to the presence of those who you believe shamed you. Because of this you may not want to return to their presence, but the situation demands it.

You can show up owning the shame and allowing it to bring you down. That would be you living in powerlessness.

Or you can show up owning that you make mistakes, recognizing that it’s a new day with new choices to make and standing empowered and committed to being or doing better. That would be you living in your power.

You would be showing up with your head up.

The second way:

You may be in a situation that you want to get out of, but commitments or contracts are keeping you bound until they come to an end. You know there is an end because all things do end. You just don’t know the end date. You may be toiling in prayer or languishing in misery, crying out everyday, “GET ME OUT!” But here’s the thing: by doing this you’re causing pain for yourself because you are looking down.

Down at what?

Down at the situation you want to get out of.

Instead you should be looking up—being in the moment with all of your power, but focused up toward your new position, station or destination.

Again, you would be showing up with your head up.

So here’s the point: if you find yourself identifying with either or both of these scenarios, I encourage you to live these words: I AM showing up with my head up!
